First shiner

So here is the result of Jack's first fight. He headbutted Sister Smith at church on Sunday. The only thing he didn't realize was her forehead was a lot harder than his eye. (O.k. so he merely wasn't in control of his muscles, and convulsed forward at the exact same moment as she was reaching for him.) It looks a lot better now, but all last week I had strangers keep coming up to me and asking me if my son was o.k. and what happened and telling me they could probably be a better parent and that I obviously wasn't. (o.k. they didn't say that- but they gave that look!) I hope you enjoy the progression of the shiner however. Jack is getting so big! He is almost rolling over- but reaches behind his head and scoots to get things in a small circumference around him. He is also eating not just rice cereal- but barley and green beans. (He pretty much hates green beans- we've tried them for 3 days now. Tomorrow we'll try peas.) Thanks Mandi for the 12 bab...

Food Storage

***Disclaimer, this is possibly a very boring yet informative post. Please still agree to come back to my blog, even if you fall asleep reading this. And the point of this blog is in the last paragraph so feel free to skip down there to get the gist of my thoughts.*** Food storage is something that has been ever present in my mind for the past three years or so. Food storage for Eric, and food storage for me is quite different however. Eric feels food storage is all about buying hugely in bulk, and then keeping it on your shelf for 50 years and using it when an emergency hits. Food storage for me is buying things we use regularly- so when I want to make dinner- I don't have to have even gone to the store for two weeks, and we can make a delicious meal out of what we have. For the record- I think we're both correct on what food storage is because guess what in each instance we're storing FOOD- and we do need and have both of these types of storage. I feel I now have bee...

Rice Cereal

Jack is growing and growing and growing! And just last week he started eating rice cereal. Here is the video of that momentous occasion. Who knows what Jack will do next? (P.S. as you can see our "high chair" was the couch here. We recently wised up and have been using his swing as the high chair- and that has been working quite well, but i know it can't last forever. Our house is so small I don't think I want to get an actual high chair- what have you guys found works the best with small spaces with your little ones?) I also had the privilege of teaching relief society this week. The usual teacher was going to be out of town- and she asked if I could fill in for her. I was so excited, as I haven't taught a real class since school ended last year- and I haven't taught adults since 2006 when I taught Sunday School. I realized some interesting things about me as I was preparing for this lesson, and not just doctrinally either. First off I was enjoying ...

Albertsons craze

Tomorrow Albertsons is going to have an incredible sale- and I want to make sure you guys don't miss it. (It goes until November 11th, so if you can't make it tomorrow that's o.k.) Click here for printable lists from the pinching your pennies website, and answering of questions about the sale. Even if you don't use coupons- you still get a steal of a deal on tons of stuff from laundry detergent to frozen veggies. And the best part is that for every $30 you spend on select items you get a coupon that prints off for $15 off your next purchase- This results in frozen veggies being 50 cents and the such like. Love the pinching your pennies website! And happy Albertsons sale to all! Happy voting day to everyone- we were going to have pancakes colored red and blue for dinner tonight- but couldn't find the food coloring- so I guess it's the thought that counts.

Halloween Festivities

What a great Halloween! We decided to dress up as the Incredibles this year because we wanted our baby to be "Jack Jack" and I had the haircut for the mom right now. We used two red shirts we already owned- a black jacket under Eric's shirt- for the black collar- and a black nylon pinned around my neck for my collar. We bought two pairs of sweat pants at Savers for $8 total- and I borrowed my sisters black boots; Eric used some black socks and his black water shoes for the "boots". We bought the masks at Walgreens for 40 cents each- and cut them down a little, and wore black gloves. We printed the incredibles logo from our computer and duct taped them to our shirts. Jack wore a red onesie with red shorts, and black socks. It was really fun to create and make- and cost $9.20 total for the three of our costumes. We carved pumpkins earlier this week with the Nichols in our ward. Here are the results- (although we couldn't find our tea lights later- so we ...
