Weekend with the Chantry's in Seattle! Three day weekend, yay! We had a great President's Day Weekend. We got to explore Portland more and drive up to Seattle. All in all, we had a great trip. Enjoy the pictures. We started our weekend off by hitting up Ikea for their free breakfast on Saturday and then exploring the store. We had lots of fun. Loungin' in style. Because what's life without a random picture of a rope bridge? Then, after church Sunday we decided to go up to Seattle for the actual President's Day and visit our friends the Chantry's. The kids immediately settled in and had a blast with their new friends with whom Avey and Jack are only months apart in age. (Samuel is 3 months older than Jack, and Avey is 3 months older than Isaac.) This is their house and Eric and Matt showing off their kung fu skills (Matt apparently actually has kung fu skills.) I love celebrating holidays. It's all about decorating and having traditions of things you do differently than you do every other day of the year. This year to celebrate Valentines day we went to the library the day before and made valentines and blew bubbles. On the actual day we had a fun music class here with friends, and then made heart shaped animals out of construction paper. The kids were so excited with how they turned out. Avey's bunny rabbit. Jack's caterpillar. We then had a "pink" lunch by putting food coloring in our macaroni and cheese. The kids thought it was really fun. After naps we went to our friend Brittany's house to give our valentines to her kids, and then Eric came home and made our valentines dinner per our tradition. This year it was grilled chicken and proscuitto with cheese, asparagus and red peppers and a fresh loaf of garlic bread. For dessert I made easy homemade cannolis . I have to say living out of state of family is great for motivating me to update and post about my life once a week. I told people that change always hits me later, and so moving to Portland will just be exciting and not sad until about a month or so after I was there. And that month is here, and I am totally missing all my family and friends in Utah. So imagine yourself getting a big hug from me and we can sit down and chat, and pretend like I'm showing you these pictures in person. Okay? A few weeks ago we went to downtown Portland to explore. Exploring new areas is one of our favorite things to do. Here was the waterfront. It was beautiful as I'm sure you can tell. And beautiful from the front too. Avey pretty much is all about living life to the fullest these days and is a CUTIE. It wasn't raining, but breezy and still a little cold. Hey look, we're all looking!
