Free and Free

Happy news! Today Coldstone Creamery is giving away free ice-cream from 5-8PM! Hopefully you can read that- anyway it looks fun enough. Also the second free thing I would like to blog about- farmers markets. I just went to the Provo farmers market this past Saturday and loved it! Yes it's tiny compared especially to Portland Saturday market- but it's so fun. I got 4 mini pumpkins for $1 total- and a half bushel of pears- that I canned this week for $10- and 4 beautiful flowers for 50 cents each. What more could you want? Go look up where there are farmers markets in your area and get to one before the end of October- I promise you won't be disappointed.

"I love" and almost 3 months old!

Happy 3 months Jack! I really love this picture of you smiling. And I really love love love being your mom. I once had a friend tell me I am an exclamation mark queen- I use exclamation marks a little excessively in my talking and writing! I'm sure you haven't been able to tell! But today I am going to be the "I love" queen. And I will update you on everything I love about Jack. (O.k. not everything, but a lot of things! :)) When you put a parenthesis on the end of a smiley face icon it kind of looks like the smile has a double chin. Anyway... I love that you're sucking your thumb. I thought I would not like this and try to make you suck your binkie only if you wanted your thumb- but it's SO STINKING CUTE!! I just love it, and you're doing it at night so I don't have to put the binkie back in your mouth, so you sleep much better. I also love that, that you sleep SOOO well. I didn't expect you to sleep so well, during the day and at night,...

Ode to Micah

My little brother's birthday is today (o.k. really tomorrow the 8th, but by the time he gets this it will his birthday) and I just wanted to give a shout out to him to have a great day. He is turning the big 5 years old. Yep, that's right 5 years old. And already an uncle of 2. I have tons of favorite memories of Micah - but one recently that my sister Becca blogged about is what I'll share with you. It's in her words so it will be even funnier, because Becca writes so well. O.k. here it is (I'm even laughing as I copy and paste it here.) Micah likes to talk to himself a lot, especially in our living room. So just a couple minutes ago I (Becca) went in there and sat on the couch. Micah was not amused. "Go away," he said in an irritated voice. "I'm talking to myself." "Can I talk to yourself, too?" "No. You can't listen to me." Death glare. "Well, can I talk to myself while just so happening to be in the same ...
No deals have waltzed across my path these past few weeks that I have thought worthy to tell anyone about. So when I find something I will post about it, I won't just put random stuff up that I wouldn't go for myself. That said I did find a fun site that is giving away jewelry for free! Well pretty close to free- you have to pay shipping for it. ($6.99) But here's the fun part- the jewelery changes every fifteen minutes- it's like a game to be on right when that perfect item comes up. They're doing it to promote their site and so I don't know how much longer it will be on. But they have some beautiful stuff. Check it out. www.silverjewelryclub.com Smiths also has their caselot sale going on right now, check out and stock up on some of those things. And Maceys is supposed to have their caselot at the end of the month or first of October. Food storage time is here! Also just a reminder tomorrow is the first Saturday of September- free kid workshop at Home ...

Wisdom Teeth Wisdom

Yes, this is me. The second day after getting my wisdom teeth out actually. Not too badly swollen if I do say so myself. But no I will not get family pictures done looking like this. Although most of you have already gotten your wisdom teeth out- I thought I would instill some do's and don'ts I learned through this wonderful experience. Do: Have your mom come and help you for the day. Well this is especially so if your mom is Sharon Barrus- it makes having your wisdom teeth out something you could do more than once in your lifetime. :) Don't: Get your wisdom teeth out when you're nursing. You have to fast for 6 hours before the surgery- and you sign something that says you did it or the side effect could be DEATH. I know you think fasting 6 hours that's not too bad- but really it was from 11:30 PM the night before until 1:00 PM the next day that I had to fast. To you pregnant and nursing moms- you know this is hard. Needless to say I had chinese food the...
