Visitors

I'm actually going to be posting everyday this week to get caught up on documenting our Washington DC trip, but this event came first and was great!!! We had some visitors at our house! Eric's parents were going to Jerusalem for the week with Eric's other aunts and uncles. On their way back they were stopping at JFK and decided to layover for a few days to see us. It was great! They showed up on Friday morning and Jack loved having his grandparents at his own house! Then Eric and his parents went to see the town and Springfield College while the kiddos slept. A little after that our great friend Mary came over with pizza. Then Mary, Eric and I went to usher at the Barenaked Ladies concert while the grandparents watched the kids for us! And although it was Eric's first time ushering they gave him a headset to be in charge of the three of us in the balcony. (Ok, so none of us wanted the headset, and Eric graciously offered to take it. I'm not quite sure what he ...

Cape Cod

We went to Cape Cod two months ago. It was something Eric really wanted to do from his to do list, so off we went one Thursday when he didn't have class. (It was a very spontaneous trip. We had just gone to playgroup that morning and came home to eat lunch and decided to strap the kids in the car for their nap instead of put them in their beds.) He was also going to blog about it, but since that hasn't happened, I thought I would, since this is a journal of sorts for us. I am a planner and scheduler and wanted to wait to take this trip, but I had promised him we would go at some point, and since it was getting colder by the day I agreed to the day trip. I have to say I enjoyed myself more than I thought I would! I have definitely fallen for quaint little towns here in the northeast. Cambridge and Lexington are two of my other favorites. O.k. so off we went with Eric's big camera. We stopped first at the beach, which was cold and windy, but beautiful. I always forge...

Life as a celebrity

Just kidding about that celebrity thing, but look at us! We were on TV a few weeks ago. Our friend is a producer at a local tv station, and she was doing a segment on bullying and asked for our help. Somehow we ended up talking about our "family night" that we have every week, and they decided to air that as a separate segment in the program. Check it out here !

Homemade yogurt to christmas present thoughts

O.k. so I have a bunch of not super connected thoughts, but I really want to post about them all, so here you go! I made homemade yogurt. But not just that, I made homemade yogurt in my crock pot. And you can too. It was crazy easy, and I even made it two weeks in a row because it was so easy. I got the recipe here at 365 days of slow cooking in your crockpot . It has 4 steps. Seriously. I made some with soy milk back when Jack was in the throws of his milk allergy, and he loved it, but I hadn't made any with regular milk yet. It's actually healthier for you because you can use 1% or Skim milk rather than the whole milk most companies used for their yogurt, and you can choose how much sugar or sweetener to put in, or just straight up fruit. My friend even makes it with powdered milk if your milk prices are pretty high to not make it as cost effective. It is pretty tart at first if you don't add any sweetener, but you get used it after a little, and now I like it ...
