The Stevenson Story

Seriously? I haven't posted about Boston yet? That was from when Kristen was here two months ago. I was downloading some pictures and found these ones, and checked to see if I had a post about it. Of course not. So here you go! Boston from two months ago. :) We started with a ride into the city on the T. Every single person we talked to said don't ever drive in Boston. And of course we did pretty soon after we moved out here to Massachusetts. We like learning things the hard way I guess. So this trip we knew we were going to do it the right way and ride in on the Train, or the T. Jack loved that part, and we could have gone home at that point with him, because all he wants these days are trains, and he got to ride a real life one! There was a really neat exhibit at the Springfield Museums we have been trying to see for about two months now. It's called the art of the brick and is art by Nathan Sawaya done completely with legos. Now many of you might be thinking, legos. Hmmm, how is that considered fine art? But let me tell you, it was amazing. Actually how about I don't tell you and just show you some of the things that he did. And as per my previous post about my cuteness struggles, it seems like creating with legos is an art medium that I can do. It does take patience, but it is incredible what is possible with these things. This pencil was taller than me. I thought our two year old did pretty well to cooperate with this picture. :) We told Jack he had to be very careful and not touch anything because it would break. I want to comment on something I was thinking about as I went to change my blog background. I often don't take time for cuteness in my life. Now don't get me wrong, I don't mind being cute or having cute things or making things look good, but if it's a choice between extra cute but more work later, (such as putting food in a different bowl than it was cooked in for dinner- 2 dishes to wash rather than one), or more work now and cute later, (photoshopping a picture before I post it on my blog) I often omit the cute step just so the meat or crucial part gets done. (Isn't it fun to see omit used in a sentence other than a recipe?) I don't have an extra cutely decorated house, or extra cute clothes/accessories or even extra cute blog posts. Part of it might stem from the fact that I always had other girls do my crafts for me at girls camp. Even when I did try I would usually hide or throw away the end result because my artistic skills struggle, and I had other t...

Eric finished his classes this week so he is free from homework for one month! Hooray! Unfortunately his internship is also ending soon, so job hunting as I feel it has continually been this year is also beginning again in earnest. We'll try to keep you posted. We are still hopeful though. :) Here are some fun pictures from the past few weeks. When we went to six flags with Kristen a few weeks ago it had been raining hard that morning, and then after the kids' naps there was a lull in the downpour so we decided to go and take our chances at more rain. (Since we had a free pass for Kristen, and we have passes ourselves.) It was the right choice! Since it had been raining the crowds were totally gone and we walked on a ton of rides! And it didn't rain the rest of the day. The highlights were the waterpark, Eric and me going on two rides kid-less (thanks Kristen!), and the glow in the dark parade at the end of the night.
