Our New "Car"


I really tell myself when I stop at yard sales- I am just looking for shoes for Jack or some other little thing. I only have $3 to spend total. Really. That's all I give myself, and if I want more we have a few more quarters I can scrounge up in the car. But quarters are what I use to pay at yard sales. A month ago, I found a Thomas the Train Ultimate set- regularly $150 in the store, the box at the yard sale said $8, the guy said he would give it to me for $5. (I promise I didn't haggle him down from $8, he just said $5 would be fine for it!)

It had 4 extra Thomas train figures that didn't go in the set, but could have sold new in the stores for $12 each and he said all the pieces were there. Eric and Jack put it together one Saturday while I was out, I don't know who had more fun, Jack or Eric.

It's true, all the pieces were there and is quite the steal. Last Saturday I found another part to the set for $1. Not that we really need more toys, but seriously- $1? I could totally make money on ebay with both of these purchases if my son wasn't so into trains, and my husband as well apparently.

But I digress. So when I saw this Little Tykes car at someone's yard sale offhandedly I asked how much he wanted for it. He said $1. What?!? He said do you want to pay more than that? I said no thank you, and here you go! So although I still haven't found more church shoes for Jack at any yard sales yet, I have gotten some fun toys for Jack. And Jack and Avey had a party with the car yesterday.

We have a rule that cars drive in the street or the road, and people walk on the sidewalk. When we cross the street we have to hold mom or dad's hand. But yesterday Jack just kept on going like he was going to go in the street, so I called after him Jack, stop, street. (We use very primitive language to evoke understanding at our house.) He stopped, looked back at me and said car, street, car, street. He wanted to drive his "car" in the street. What a clever boy.

Wow! I think here in Utah people try and get way too much out of things at yard sales. I don't think anyone would have given those things up for less than $10-15. Great finds!!!!

You really know how to shop the yard sales. Toys also don't get as warn out when families don't have 6 children. What great memories. Shame we can't call the car by another name so Jack doesn't think it goes in the street.

"Hello new world," says Avey.

Well well here we are. A long road of pregnancy, a long way from home, and a VERY short labor everything came out perfectly (pardon the pun). News Flash!

This is an 11 week ultrasound, and looks close to what my ultrasound looked like, I just can't find where my original went. Oh well, so is the sad life of a second child. Yes! It is true! I am 11 weeks pregnant! I was supposed to be 12 weeks pregnant today, but when my doctor measured the size of the baby it was a week smaller than 12 weeks, even when he did it twice. So rather than my due date being December 1st, it has gotten pushed back to December 8th. I get to be 11 weeks along for two weeks! Awesome! It's really not that bad, and I normally wouldn't wouldn't tell anyone until at least 12 weeks, but the doctor found a heartbeat, and says everything looks healthy and good to go, so I don't want to wait to tell people anymore! (Besides I "technically" waited until I was 12 weeks. :) For those that are dying to know I have definitely felt better than I did with Jack. I haven't taken any medicine to help with the nausea- and that could be ...

Another Grocery Craze!

After going to Albertsons this morning (6:15 AM- don't you worry, long story) and bringing in all the groceries from the car, Eric requested that I take pictures of everything and the receipts. So per request of him, this post is here. Here's all the stuff with Jack in the middle (Well almost all of it, Eric took a bunch of it to work today before I took this picture.) Don't worry, Jack wasn't part of the groceries I bought.
