Our good friend Dave had a conference in Newark New Jersey last week, so we decided to head up to the Big Apple to visit for a short weekend trip. (That is one thing I love about living out here, we can just head up for New York for a day or two and come right back. Super cheap and super fun. Seriously, if you only knew how little we spent...)
Anywho. So we got there Thursday night and headed straight into Times Square to grab a bite to eat at Juniors. Delicious! Something fun about it is that they give you coleslaw with pickles and pickled beets just for being there. (You know, some places give you chips and salsa, others bread, this one coleslaw and beets.) Very unique. But you know what they say about New York restaurants, anywhere you go is going to have amazing and memorable food because the competition here is FIERCE! And if you aren't amazing you won't last long.

Kind of random but fun statues dressed differently in recycled materials
down a street on our walk back to the train.
The next morning we took off to Six Flags New Jersey grateful no one slashed our tires so we could save $20 in parking. Unfortunately it was a crazy busy and HOT day there, so we exchanged Dave's ticket for the Six Flags Wild Kingdom park which was right next door. Our season passes covered both areas for free! Before we went next door though we saw the Dolphin and then the Tiger show. Very cool, and very worth the drive just for that. The Dolphin show made me want to go to Sea World again. Thanks for the fun memories there mom and dad. And I like Sea World better than Disneyland. I know scandalous! But everyone gets into the shows. You don't wait 2 hours for a 3 minute ride. And the shows are AMAZING!

So then we went next door to see the Wild Kingdom Animal Park. It says it is the largest drive through Safari outside of Africa, and it is definitely huge, and a much different experience from a zoo. We would definitely recommend it to ANYONE close by, kids and adults alike.
We stopped for a few minutes by the elephants and the ostrichs so Jack could take a nap and this ostrich came up to our car and tried to eat the mirror.
