Eric's birthday, a new year, and other things of import

I forgot I hadn't posted anything about Eric's birthday! Don't worry it was over a month ago, but here are some pictures of his party. The party was on the day before his actual birthday because Eric went to the Boston temple for a youth baptism trip on the real day.

Yogurt/cool whip dip and fruit, spinach dip with carrots and chips, and cream cheese filled cupcakes. mmmm...

The new year was really fun as we rung it in with friends from the ward. (Sorry no pictures!) But we put Jack down about 8:30 in his tent (seriously one of my favorite purchases we made for Jack) and despite all the craziness he slept until we went home and put him in his real room. Eric explained Killer Bunnies (don't try to explain that game to 6 new people in one night) and we played apples to apples- another party game classic.

On January 1st itself Eric and I wrote a few of our favorite things of 2009 and then some goals we wanted to accomplish this year. Here are a few of the goals

Top ten of 2009
1. Welcoming Avey into our family
2. Learning how to cook with food storage
3. Moving to Massachusetts
4. Eric starting graduate school, and finishing his first semester
5. Going to California twice. (Thank you Kristen and Glen and Barrus Family Reunion)
6. Being choir director for the ward choir. (Weird i know, but I have always wanted to have this calling.)
7. Eric- Akeelah's Council- a scouting leadership training.
8. Visiting Hearst Castle in California
9. Jack's first birthday!
10. Learning how to coupon/save money. Staying within my budget for 3 months and then lowering it!

Goals for 2010
1. Go to a museum every month (yikes! We missed this one already- although we did go to one at the end of last month, so we'll count that one as January's)
2. Read books together (one a quarter)
3. Brooke- be successful and feel confident in breadmaking abilities.
4. Eric- cut refined sugar out of diet for 3 months.
5. Make the most of time here in Mass- Go to Cape Cod, Washington DC, Boston and New York again, and visit an amusement park.
6. Eric get a job. :)

Here's to hoping!

Jack is talking up a storm and now parrots everything we are saying, which is heaven for us as screaming was his former method of communication. He can show you all his body parts and tell you the important animal sounds. He seems to have developed a milk allergy, and along with that an aversion to nursery that perplexes me and Eric.

Avey is talking and cooing and melting my heart all day now. She is such a big smiler and even Jack loves it when she smiles and "talks" to him. She weighed in at 11 lbs 5 oz almost two weeks ago- so she is one chunky monkey- but we love it as it helps her be a better overall sleeper. Or so I'm told. She just slept 7 hours last night- let's hope it continues. She continues to be fabulous- and only cries when hungry or ready to go to sleep- but there isn't any build-up to her hunger or tiredness cries- she just lets me know she needs either one of those immediately or she will die!

Oh, Happy Belated Birthday Eric! It was a joy to have you guys here- you are welcome ANY time! I am so impressed that you stayed within budget three months and then lowered it! Wow! I am totally impressed by Eric's goal to go without refined sugar for three months. I've never tried going that long. A couple weeks has been it for me, but it was hard. Still, awesome goal- best wishes! I hope a great job comes along very soon for Eric- he'll be a great employee for some lucky company out there.

Your kids are so darling! Also, I loved the family pics in your last post- you all look great. I think it is so sweet how much Jack loves Avey- so sweet.

The parroting stage is so fun, huh? We've been having fun with Scott, but have to be careful that he doesn't learn words we'd rather he not say yet (like dang and stupid).

What great goals! Best of luck with the job hunt.

So glad Avey is sleeping so well. She's so precious!

"Hello new world," says Avey.

Well well here we are. A long road of pregnancy, a long way from home, and a VERY short labor everything came out perfectly (pardon the pun). At 12:01 a.m. on December 8, 2009 Avey _____* Stevenson was born. She weighs 9 pounds, 2.2 Ounces and measures 21 cm in length. She has red hair (arguably strawberry blond), dark blue eyes, chubby cheeks, and a fabulously pleasant disposition. *We are still torn about the middle name. News Flash!

This is an 11 week ultrasound, and looks close to what my ultrasound looked like, I just can't find where my original went. Oh well, so is the sad life of a second child. Yes! It is true! I am 11 weeks pregnant! I was supposed to be 12 weeks pregnant today, but when my doctor measured the size of the baby it was a week smaller than 12 weeks, even when he did it twice. So rather than my due date being December 1st, it has gotten pushed back to December 8th. I get to be 11 weeks along for two weeks! Awesome! It's really not that bad, and I normally wouldn't wouldn't tell anyone until at least 12 weeks, but the doctor found a heartbeat, and says everything looks healthy and good to go, so I don't want to wait to tell people anymore! (Besides I "technically" waited until I was 12 weeks. :) For those that are dying to know I have definitely felt better than I did with Jack. I haven't taken any medicine to help with the nausea- and that could be ...

Another Grocery Craze!

After going to Albertsons this morning (6:15 AM- don't you worry, long story) and bringing in all the groceries from the car, Eric requested that I take pictures of everything and the receipts. So per request of him, this post is here. Here's all the stuff with Jack in the middle (Well almost all of it, Eric took a bunch of it to work today before I took this picture.) Don't worry, Jack wasn't part of the groceries I bought.
