Pumpkin Carving and Eco Tarium

Halloween night we finally ended up carving our pumpkins. Jack didn't really care about the event, he touched the seeds and then wanted to go play somewhere else. His pumpkin ended up really cute though. It was a puppy. I think my artistic skills are improving.

Just starting...

Still in the process.

Before heading over to the Chelli's for some more Halloween celebrations.

Here are the lit up results. I like the big nose on Eric's pumpkin.

This past Saturday we went to the Ecotarium in Worchester. Bank of America had a free museum admission day this past Friday and Saturday- so we jumped on it. (No job or money, free event to go to as a family- we are there!) I have to say museums out here are FANTASTIC! This is what the website said it had:

The EcoTarium is a unique indoor-outdoor museum in Worcester, MA. Set in an urban oasis, the EcoTarium offers a chance to walk through the treetops, take a thrilling multimedia journey through the galaxy at a digital planetarium, meet wildlife, stroll nature trails, ride a narrow-gauge railroad, and get hands-on with family-friendly exhibit.

Now of course the train and digital planetarium and the walk through the treetops all cost extra on TOP of the museum admission fee of $10, (that we got for free) But this Cool Moves exhibit was part of the museum exhibit cost- and well worth our drive out to the EcoTarium.

Dance to create light and sound, zoom three-wheeled racers, play with crazy pendulums, touch a mini tornado, make waves with wind over water or objects in a ripple pool, pilot the speed of video animals in motion, see and feel the vibrations created by sound, experiment with windy wonders, and make music out of thin air. Create and observe science in motion!

I think Eric and I had as much fun as Jack with the awesome hands on science learning stations.
Here are some pictures of the day.

The turtles. I saw some new types of turtles too. They looked like a cross between an alligator and a turtle. Jack obviously really liked them.

A pendelum with magnets underneath it you could move to see what could happen.

Eric's favorite. I don't know how it worked but it made really cool designs in the end-
you can ask Eric- I'm sure he would love to explain what it does.

This was the only picture we took of this exhibit. But it recorded up to 24 hours of a tank of animals found in the sea. (The tank was also right there that you could watch.) Then you could go back in time to watch the animals move and explore their environment. You could speed up or slow down the video. It was kind of hypnotizing.

A mock ripple wave pool where you can put things in it and see what happens to the waves.

Climbing up to the slide. He needed a little bit of help.

At the top of the slide with daddy

And making it to the bottom of the slide- see Jack's cool static hair?

Who is the cutest little boy EVER??!??

And mommy and Jack.

Metal poles and wooden blocks making huge xylophones.
Jack loved the sounds they all made.

And of a course a polar bear!

You can see Jack and I way in the background.

It was definitely a fun day, and my foot held up pretty well too.
I think this museum would even be fun to visit again.

Nice pumpkins!

That museum reminds me of the awesome times I had at the Pacific Science Center growing up in Seattle. We didn't get to go often (it was pretty steep admission) but the times we did go I will always remember. I've never seen a polar bear that close! Cool!

Jack is SO cute and SO big! And you look adorable. You're such a cute pregnant girl. :)

Also, just wanted to make sure you saw the awesome free Christmas photo cards on my blog...you probably already know about them...but I thought I'd mention it just in case. :)

Wow, looks like a great day!
Okay, what are you guys trying to pull? First you have a red-headed baby AFTER us and then you buy him the EXACT same coat as my read head baby! It's just wierd seeing Jack and automatically thinking Caleb! J/K! They do have the very same coat though and both have red hair. :)

I got the coat on a killer deal last year- I'm sure you did the same- but that is hilarious!

"Hello new world," says Avey.

Well well here we are. A long road of pregnancy, a long way from home, and a VERY short labor everything came out perfectly (pardon the pun). At 12:01 a.m. on December 8, 2009 Avey _____* Stevenson was born. She weighs 9 pounds, 2.2 Ounces and measures 21 cm in length. She has red hair (arguably strawberry blond), dark blue eyes, chubby cheeks, and a fabulously pleasant disposition. *We are still torn about the middle name. The competing middle names are JoAnna, Kristine, or Anne. This was a miracle in timing. I guess that means that Avey will be a punctual person throughout her life. Brooke called me (Eric) on the way home from picking up Sharon (Brooke's mom) from the airport stating contractions were coming every 4 minutes. We hadn't even gotten to our house when she called with "the voice" that told us to hurry up 'cause the baby is coming. That was a little after 10:30. We rushed her to the hospital down the road, I dropped Jack off at the neighbors house, an...

News Flash!

This is an 11 week ultrasound, and looks close to what my ultrasound looked like, I just can't find where my original went. Oh well, so is the sad life of a second child. Yes! It is true! I am 11 weeks pregnant! I was supposed to be 12 weeks pregnant today, but when my doctor measured the size of the baby it was a week smaller than 12 weeks, even when he did it twice. So rather than my due date being December 1st, it has gotten pushed back to December 8th. I get to be 11 weeks along for two weeks! Awesome! It's really not that bad, and I normally wouldn't wouldn't tell anyone until at least 12 weeks, but the doctor found a heartbeat, and says everything looks healthy and good to go, so I don't want to wait to tell people anymore! (Besides I "technically" waited until I was 12 weeks. :) For those that are dying to know I have definitely felt better than I did with Jack. I haven't taken any medicine to help with the nausea- and that could be ...

Another Grocery Craze!

After going to Albertsons this morning (6:15 AM- don't you worry, long story) and bringing in all the groceries from the car, Eric requested that I take pictures of everything and the receipts. So per request of him, this post is here. Here's all the stuff with Jack in the middle (Well almost all of it, Eric took a bunch of it to work today before I took this picture.) Don't worry, Jack wasn't part of the groceries I bought. All-in-all I got: 17 boxes of cereal 4 bottles of Pantene Pro-V 3 packages of Pampers Diapers 2 Fiber One Pancake Mixes 3 Bisquick mixes 1 Toaster Streudel (I loved those in middle school after going to the temple and having breakfast with friends) 2 Dawn dish washing liquids (28 oz each) 2 things of Tide (64 loads each) 3 BC pre-made frosting 2 Fiber One Toaster Pastries 8 Pack of Bounty Giant Paper Towels 2 boxes of Gushers 2 boxes Gogurt 2 packages butter 1 Malt O meal cereal 1 32 oz block of cheese Total without coupons: $233....
